The MENSA Home IQ Test

For a while I have been thinking about taking an exam to see if I qualify for MENSA. I know that I would not qualify but I still wanted to see what a MENSA test might be like. I went to the MENSA site and ordered the test. I think the test sold for $14.00. Here's the website to purchase the test or get more information: MENSA Home Test.

About 10 days later a large envelope clearly marked with the MENSA logo arrived in my mailbox. I hurried back to my apartment and carefully took out the contents. The envelope contained a small booklet with a green seal on it. However, the first page was not sealed and gave an overview of what to expect.

I wanted to take the test right then and there but I had to go to work so after I scanned the first page, I carefully put the booklet back into the envelope and placed it on my desk where it sat for two weeks.

I told myself over and over that I would not take the test until I felt fully rested and was as stress-free as possible.

When the time came for the test, I meditated for a few minutes and then broke the green seal. I finished the test and carefully rechecked all my answers. There were 80 questions in all and the test was not what I thought it would be. Although parts of the test seemed really easy there were some parts that were confusing as well; however, everything on the test seemed deeply rooted in logic and reason.

I sent the test back to MENSA in the pre-postage marked envelope and after about ten days my results came back and it said that my RAW Score was 65 which translated to an IQ Score of 118 which was fairly close to the score I received from taking a test from http://www.kids-iq-tests.com/.

I had taken an IQ test on the old EMODE website now known as tickle and my results were 132. I knew that the tickle IQ test was bogus and overrated but I took it anyway.

I’m sure that after I return to school in the fall and brush up on test taking skills that I will do much better when I finally decide to take an acceptable exam for MENSA placement. In the meantime, I’m glad that I at least tried.

The tests at the following links are not from MENSA, but they are better than taking an iqtest from Tickle.
