Kindergarten Readiness Test - (KRT)

Question: What is the Kindergarten Readiness Test?
Answer: The Kindergarten Readiness Test is designed for ages 4 - 6 and assesses various key areas proven to be critical for school readiness. The test takes about 15 minutes to complete.

The KRT was specifically designed for professionals and parents concerned with the question, "Is this child ready to begin school?" The testing needs and concerns of parents, early educators, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and public school administrators were all incorporated into the test rationale.

The KRT consolidates critical areas of various developmental tests into one single form, thereby making identification of school readiness more efficient and valid. The KRT targets and screens key developmental traits across a broad range of skills necessary to begin school: Reasoning, Language, Auditory and Visual Attention, Numbers, Fine Motor Skills, and several other cognitive and sensory-perception areas.

Using state-of-the-art child development theories and test design, the KRT is sensitive to current state and federal laws regulating school readiness.

Test booklet and additional forms are designed to enhance parent conferences or inter-professional presentations by graphically depicting individual strengths, as well as weaknesses, in a concise manner. The KRT has been used effectively to identify possible handicapping conditions at an early age. Also, it greatly facilitates writing developmental objective programs for teachers or parents. Tasks are presented in a sequential developmental-maturational format.
