Goal Attainment Scaling

Author: T.J. Kiresuk and R. Sherman, Hennepin County Medical Center (1968).

The purpose og the Goal Attainment Scaling is to assess the attainment of self-defined goals. No more than five goals are recommended and should be assessed every two months.

Applicable Domains: Responsibility and Independence, Presence and Participation, Personal and Social Adjustment, Achievement, Physical Health, Contribution and Citizenship.

Administration: Goals are rated using a Likert scale. The number of items correspond to the number of goals set.

Scoring: Hand scoring is difficult; computer scoring recommended.
