Question: What is the Developmental Assessment of Young Children?
Answer: The Developmental Assessment of Young Children identifies at-risk infants and young children who might benefit from early intervention. It assesses the following five domains:

1. Cognition
2. Communication
3. Social-Emotional
4. Physical Development
5. Adaptive Behavior

Each domain can be administered separately, or as a part of the comprehensive battery. The DAYC allows assessment to be individually-tailored by combining only those domains which are applicable to the client. Information about a child's abilities is obtained through observation, interviews and direct assessment.

May also be used in arena assessment, allowing each discipline to use the evaluation tool independently.
