The purpose of the Brigance Diagnostic Inventories is to assess mastery of skills, concepts and behavior at various developmental levels. Diagnostic Inventory of Early Development (Birth-7 years) - To assess development across eleven sub scales. Diagnostic Inventory of Basic Skills (grades K-6) - To assess development in the areas of readiness, reading, language arts, and mathematics. Diagnostic Inventory of Essential Skills (grades 7-12) - To assess academic skills and applied skills in the areas of health and safety, vocational, food and clothing and communication. Applicable Domains: Academic, Personal and Social Adjustment, Responsibility and Independence, Physical Health. Administration Administration time varies for each criterion-referenced multiple-skill battery. Inventories do not have to be administered in their entirety. The inventories are criterion referenced. No reliability information is provided. Evidence of content validity is supported by extensive reviews of literature from which items were developed.
