There are 7 Types of Intelligence or IQ including Number Intelligence, Word Fluency, Verbal Meaning, Memory, Reasoning, Spatial Perception and Perceptual speed. Actually there are more than 7 types of intelligence. Music IQ is recognize as a huge factor in raising ones overall intelligence. Listen to music by Bach and Beethoven and you'll agree that these men were very intelligent. Beethoven had an estimated IQ Score 165 as well as Johann Sebastian Bach.
Well educated parents have almost always insisted on their children learning how to play and in most cases, how to master an instrument.
There has been data that verifies that the earlier a child learns how to read music and practices often that child will not only learn self discipline but kids who learn how to play music also tend to have a better grasp of the science of math.
Although your child may not want to learn how to play the violin or learn to play the piano there is a growing interest in learning the art of playing guitar.
If your child has an interest in music you should offer your child music lessons. Music lessons are not that expensive and you will broaden your child's interest in other culture and add depth to his character.

1. Number Intelligence which Is the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. This ability is not the same as mathematical reasoning ability, because it involves only the four fundamental mathematical processes.
2. Word Fluency is the ability to write and speak with ease. This ability is not the same as verbal meaning because a person who knows very few words may be able to use them fluently, whereas a person who knows many words may be halting in his or her speech.
3. Verbal Meaning or Verbal Intelligence is the understanding of ideas in word form.
4. Memory is the ability to retain and revive impressions or to recall and recognize past experiences.
5. Reasoning is the ability to solve complex problems and profit from experience and plan new activities based on experience.
6. Spatial Perception is the ability to perceive size and spatial relationships correctly.
7. Perceptual Speed is the ability to identify stimulus objects quickly. In developing reading skills for example, it is necessary to identify entire words without carefully examining each letter in the word.
